Notice for stakeholder meeting seeking inputs in respect of development of Security requirements as a part of essential requirements for Mandatory Testing & certification thereof

The Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India vide Gazette Notification No. G.S.R. 1131(E) dated 5th September, 2017 has amended the Indian Telegraph Rules, 1951 (Amendment 2017) to introduce Mandatory Testing & Certification of Telecom Equipment. These rules shall come into effect from October 1, 2018, and TEC is implementing Mandatory Testing & Certification of Telecom Equipment. The testing and certification of the telecommunication equipment shall be done for ensuring compliance with the respective Essential Requirements (ER) documents of TEC.

To implement mandatory testing and certification ER are being formulated and Security requirements are a part of essential requirements which is being developed by Core divisions of TEC.Security wing, DOT has been entrusted with responsibility of developing Security requirements of each equipment.

A draft security requirements for Equipment operating in 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands is prepared by TTSC Bangalore (attached along) and to discuss the draft Security requirements before its inclusion in ER, a meeting is scheduled with stakeholders of Wi-Fi CPE for further inputs in draft Security requirements on 11.01.18,14:30 hrs in SAMWAD committee Room,3rd floor TEC.
