Power & Duties of S & D

i) The particulars of Divisions functions & duties:

 Role and functions

  1. S&D division has been established with the objective of framing GR/ IR on new telecom services. At present this division is working on M2M communication and other new service areas.
  2. In M2M domain, five working groups have beenformed namely Automotive, Power, Safety & surveillance, health verticals and Gateway & Architecture. Working groups comprises members from DoT, TEC, TSPs, Equipment vendors, Vertical industries, MNCs, IT/ ITes and international bodies.
  3. Working groups have been interacting on audio con call on fortnightly basis to discuss the use cases, technology being used globally to finalize the standards for Indian scenario. Three JWG (Joint working group) meetings have already taken place up to 31-03-2015.
  4. Interaction with various international standards Development Organisations (SDOs), viz., ITU, OneM2M, IEEE, TSDSI etc.
  5. S&D division has also carried out technical interactions with DOT and other departments and organisation viz. BIS, TSPs, C-DoT, ITU, TSDSI, TRAI, Equipment Vendors and Other Telecom Stakeholders.

  Other scope of work and activities:

S&D division provides input on various issues as allotted time to time by Sr.DDG.

ii)Duties of officers and employees:

 DDG (S&D): responsible for overall activities, management and      administration of the S&D Division, main activities include:

 Formation and approval of Annual Action Plan, distribution of activities.

  1. Approval of various documents, minutes of meetings, etc.
  2. Coordination, finalization and monitoring of development of various documents
  3. Coordination with the chairman / rapporteur / members of Working groups, arranging con calls and meetings.
  4. Timely furnishing technical inputs to and attending meetings in various other departments and organizations, viz., DoT, C-DoT, TSDSI and carrying out technical interactions with ITU, BIS and other Telecom Stakeholders, as and when required
  5. Timely Completion of all activities assigned to S&D Division
  6. General administration of the division

 Director(S&D):responsible for overall activities management and administration of the S&D Division, main activities include:
