Future Networks (FN)

 

The erstwhile Smart Networks (SN) and Next Generation Switching (NGS) Divisions have been merged in to the Future Networks (FN) Division.

 

Work Responsibilities

 

  • Future Network & Technology such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, etc. – Study and Standardization activities.
  • 2-Wire Interface Telecommunication Equipment such as 2-Wire Telephone, Cordless Telephone, Fax Machine, Modem, Point of Sales (PoS) device, Conferencing equipment etc. – Standardization activities.
  • Technical support to DoT and other Govt Departments.
  • National Working Groups/Study Groups (NWG-12 & NWG16) corresponding to ITU-T Study Groups (SGs) and Contributions to ITU-T and other International Standardization Bodies.
  • Quarterly Rolling Plans (QRPs) for technical contributions and foreign visits of TEC officers.
  • PPDR (Public Protection & Disaster Relief) Application.

Other Activities

  • Coordination with IR Wing DoT and within TEC for providing TEC’s technical inputs on International Relation (IR) related like Indo-US, Indo-Japan, Indo-EU etc.
  • National Digital Communications Policy (NDCP) – 2018 Implementation & Coordination.
  • Implementation of MoU with TCIL on TEC certification recognition by foreign certification Bodies.
  • Implementation of MoU between TEC and CSIR – CEERI on Collaboration in the area of Future Telecom & ICT Technologies.
  • Coordination and providing TEC’s Technical inputs for “Technology DoTs” newsletter published by DoT.
  • Conversion of existing TEC specifications into Standards.

 

Work Responsibilities (pertaining to erstwhile SN Division)

  • Formulation of Generic Requirements (GR)/ Essential Requirements (ER)/ Interface requirements (IR)/ Test schedule and Test procedure (TSTP) in respect of Machine-to-Machine (M2M)/Internet of Things (IoT) in verticals of Automotive, Health, Security, Smart Environment and Pollution, Smart Governance/ Network.

  • Formulation of Institutional Framework/ Mechanism for establishment of M2M National Trust Centre (NTC).

  • Conducting/ Contributing in various Development Coordination Committees (DCCs), DCC Sub-committees and coordinating MATCOF/ Stakeholders meetings.
  • Preparation and presentation of Study Paper/ White Paper/ Guidelines

Other Activities

  • Understanding the requirements of industries of various verticals namely Automotive, Health, Security, Smart Environment and Pollution, Smart Governance/ Network for preparing ERs and bringing out Technical Reports.
  • To keep pace with standardisation works being carried out in ITU-T and other standardisation bodies.
  • Provide inputs for Annual Action Plan, ISO 9001-2015 Audit, MIS Reports, RTI, PG/ Court cases, Budget/ Audit, Minister/ VIP cases, Parliament Questions/ Committees etc.

 

Work Responsibilities (Pertaining to NGS Division)

  • Next Generation Switching (NGS) Division is responsible for framing the Generic Requirements (GR) / Interface Requirements (IR) / Service Requirements (SR) / Standards (SD )/ Essential Requirements (ER) and associated Test Schedule & Testing Procedures (TSTP) for TDM based Switching Networks, Media Gateways, Next Generation Networks (NGN) & devices, PABXs (TDM and IP based), ISDN devices , Session Border Controllers, Signaling Transfer Points, SIP terminals, Network Interfaces (2MB & STM), PSTN Lawful interception & monitoring System, Routing and Signaling Plans.

Other Activities

  • Coordination for TEC activities related to ITU-T SG.11.
  • Conversion of existing TEC specifications into Standards.
  • Editing and publication of quarterly TEC Newsletter.
  • Technical support to Headquarter.
  • Works related to Rajbhasha Hindi.
